Nothing Phone 1 at a glance

Nothing Phone 1 at a glance

Pros:

  • Great Looks with LED lights notification on the transparent glass back.
  • Easy to hold and feels good quality material.
  • Great performance with Snapdragon 778G Plus Processor.
  • Good OLED screen with 120 Hz refresh rate.
  • UFS 3.0 storage makes it really fast while opening and closing apps.
  • Good For Gaming – Does not overheat while playing games
  • Haptic feedback is good

Cons:

  • Average camera quality. Low light photos and video quality sucks.
  • Could have been priced under 30,000.
  • Lots of other phones are available in the market with better specs and performance at lower prices.
  • The battery backup is not so good, it will not last the whole day
  • Lacks very fast charging, and supports only a 33W fast charge which seems low.

If you are planning to buy Nothing Phone 1 that offers a fun design and decent specification read the review till the end.

Design

Nothing Phone 1 is a different phone. When I was using this, it reminded me of Nokia 1100 because of its LED notification on the back. Its white lights on the back side look cool while incoming calls. The phone includes 900 LED lights on the rear panel. When you get a new notification or call the back panel light up The phone feels sturdy in your hands due to the support of Gorilla Glass 5 and aluminum frames.

Camera Setup

It has two rear cameras (50MP + 50MP) and a single front camera of 16MP. The primary camera does not do a satisfactory job, but it manages to capture well-detailed photos. The best thing is its glyph camera mode, its back LED panel works like a ring light thus the photo clicked by the rear camera provides smooth output in comparison to a flashlight. The second ultrawide camera doesn’t work well, it feels like it misses on details, especially in zoom-in situations.

OLED Display

The Nothing Phone 1 comes with a 6.5-inch OLED display that perfectly works in indoors but is not up to the mark in outdoors. But if you remain less worried about your phone’s display and are ok with a slightly dull display, this phone will work for you. But while watching videos or movies in high definition, you won’t feel wow.

Performance

This phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 778+ SoC and comes with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage without having any expandable storage option. With this configuration the performance is good and I did not find it slow while switching between the apps.

The user interface of Nothing Phone 1 is also near to stock Android, this gives you a great user experience. The fluid response due to the high refresh rate of the OLED screen makes this phone a top performer.

Although the performance is good, but how it performs in the long run, will be a question. There are other smartphones in the market at this price segment with better performance and better new generation processor.

Battery backup

The phone comes with a 4500mAh battery back up which is backed by 33W fast charging. The charging capacity is quite slow in comparison with other phones in this price segment.

Conclusion

In my opinion, the phone is hit and miss because I find the overall performance of Nothing phone 1 was average while using. The phone has a major attraction which is its aesthetically placed LED notification lights on the backside. I could have easily recommended this phone if its camera performed better and it comes with a better new generation processor.
