Android 14 is coming: Release Date and Supported Phones

Google is getting ready for Android 14 to release soon. The Android 13 update was rolled out to eligible Pixel devices last year. The Android 13 update is currently being rolled out by other manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Samsung, Oppo, Vivo, and OnePlus. As for the next-generation OS, Google has already begun developing the next version of Android, Android 14.

It is common for Google to name its Android versions after sweets or desserts. Pie, for example, was the name of Android 9. Since Android 10, Google has used number naming instead of the letter naming. There were then Android 10, 11, 12 and 13. As a result of this dessert or sweet treat naming, we know what Android 14 will be called internally.

Android 14: what is it?

The Android 14 operating system is the fourteenth version of the Android operating system. The new version of Android will replace Android 13. We will see several new features in Android 14 including larger font sizes, more granular language controls per app, support for native app cloning, Predictive back gesture, Exact alarm permissions, and a Health Connect app.

The Android 14 operating system will be called Upside Down Cake. Android 14’s dessert name has been discovered in the Android Gerrit, and it is code-named Upside Down Cake according to XDA Developers. Traditionally, an upside-down cake is baked with its toppings at the bottom of the pan and baked upside-down in the oven. Afterward, the cake is turned over and served upright. I like the fact that Google is continuing its tradition of naming Android versions after desserts.

Google may not have had much choice in terms of Android 14’s name, but in its defense, Google didn’t have many good options. Many leaks have already revealed the sweet or dessert code names of Android versions in the past, so this is not new. The Android operating systems Android 10 and Android 11 are known as Quince, Red Velvet Cake and Snow Cone respectively, and Android 13 is known as Tiramisu.

When is Android 14 coming out?

It is possible that Android 14 will be announced at Google I/O 2023 in May 2023. Android 14 was released as a Developer Preview build on February 8, 2023. We expect to release the Beta Build in April 2023. There is a good chance that the stable version of Android 14 will be released in August 2023.
