On September 7, Apple will host its flagship fall hardware event in Cupertino to unveil the iPhone 14.
The event will kick off on Wednesday at 10:00 am PT (10:30 pm IST) at Apple’s headquarters, and like the previous two years, it will be streamed live online. It will be available on the company’s official website and YouTube channel.
However, reports are coming from the west that a few select media members will be invited to attend the event in person. They will also be able to access the demo zone after the event.
Here’s what to expect at Apple’s Fall Event in 2022
This event focuses on the new line of smartphones, so there’s no price for guessing. The iPhone 14 series will include four new models. It is expected that Apple will ditch the ‘iPhone mini’ this year in favor of a larger 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus. In order to avoid confusion with the ultra-high-end Pro Max model, the latter was initially named iPhone 14 Max.
There will be a regular iPhone 14 (6.1 inches), 14 Plus (6.7 inches), iPhone 14 Pro (6.1 inches) and iPhone 14 Pro Max (6.7 inches).
The company is planning to widen the distinction between the regular and Pro models this year.
In addition to the standard iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, the Pro models will feature top-grade OLED displays that support Always-on-Display.
There will also be a 48MP camera upgrade in the Pro models, along with a notch-reduced pill display panel.
In contrast, iPhone 14 and 14 Max will have dual cameras and a standard notch design.
A15 Bionic chipsets may be used for iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, while A16 Bionic chipsets will be used for iPhone Pro models.
It is rumored that Apple will finally bring satellite connectivity to the upcoming iPhone 14 so users can receive emergency assistance fast in areas with weak cellular coverage.
Besides introducing two Watch Series 8 models – the standard Watch Series 8 and the top-of-the-line Watch Series 8 Pro – Apple is also expected to announce an affordable Watch SE.
A titanium case will be used for the Watch Series 8 Pro, while an aluminium case will be used for the regular Watch Series 8. Pro models will have a longer battery life.
Two new features will be available with the Watch Series 8– a body-temperature sensor and fertility tracking. Apple Watches will also come with ECG (Electrocardiogram), heart rate tracking, blood-oxygen saturation monitoring, and activity rings.
Alternatively, Apple S8 chipset will be used in the Watch SE (2nd Gen), which is more efficient than S5 in the 2020 model.
Apple AirPods Pro earphones are also expected to be announced by Apple. Among its features are improved audio performance, Active Noise Cancellation, and a longer battery life.
