The phones operates on OS 4.5 Funtouch 4.5 on top of Android 9.0 Pie. It has two display panel a 6.3 inch full HD AMOLED pan at the front and a 5.49 inch full HD. The handset is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 10 GB of RAM and 128 GB of on board storage. If we talk about the camera the phone got triple rear camera setup at the back. The setup consist of 12 megapixel primary sensor with OIS a 2 megapixel secondary night vision sensor and third TOF 3D stereo camera sensor. No camera sensor have been provided in the front. Thus, face unlock works only using the camera placed at the back. The fingerprint sensor have been provided to unlock the phone on the main display. There is 3500 mAh battery under the hood with support for 22.5W fast charging.
Vivo nex dual screen supports 4G LTE, dual-band WI-FI, Bluetooth, GPS, GLONASS, a USB type-c port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensor onboard the smartphone. Include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, electronic compass, gyroscope, and proximity sensor. Dimensions are 157.19×75.3×8.09mm and the second-gen Vivo Nex variant weighs 199.2 grams.
On the back, its triple-camera setup consists of 12-megapixel, 2-megapixel and time-of-flight (TOF) 3D cameras. The main camera uses Sony’s IMX363 sensor and features four-axis optical image stabilization. The 2-megapixel shooter is used for low-light shots, while the TOF camera is meant for facial recognition and measuring distances and helping you get that perfect selfie with beautification software tools.
To take advantage of the rear screen, a special Mirror Mode turns it on to you watch yourself as you’re being filmed by someone, while the “Pose Director” mode lets you reference videos or images to copy.
Located over the three cameras is what Vivo calls a Lunar Ring, which can light up for notifications or even add diffuse lightning for selfie shots.
Of course, there’s no front-facing camera — not even a pop-up one. But you won’t really need it since the rear screen means the rear cameras can double up as a selfie camera.
The Vivo Nex ($599 at Amazon Marketplace) only has a 3,500-mAh embedded battery, but I’m guessing battery life won’t be that big of an issue despite the second screen. After all, the screens aren’t likely to both be on all of the time — you’ll only turn them on when they’re needed.
The Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition will be sold in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan. It’ll cost 4,998 yuan — about $725, £575 or AU$1,000 — and will be available from Dec. 29.
