Keeping in mind the increasing crime against women these days, New Delhi based non-profit NGO; WhyPoll has introduced a Fight Back smartphone app for fighting sexual harassment.

This app will help women to alert both her relatives and friends by simply pressing a button. An SOS message will be texted immediately after the alarm has been raised. This will then be emailed as well as posted on Facebook.
Following this, recipients via GPS can track sender’s location to send help. This mobile solution introduced for women’s safety uses mobile capabilities such as SMS, GPS, GPRS, location maps, email as well as integration with Facebook. This app is presently available in English at a price tag of Rs 100.
It will however be available in many more languages soon. The Fight Back app is expected to be available in nine more cities by end of 2012. Presently this safety app is available for BlackBerry and Android devices.
Capital city New Delhi bags the top position in India having maximum cases of sexual assault. With 489 cases in 2010 against 459 in 2009, the number has signified an alarming increase.
