Apple’s market share in Europe slips

Although, Apple may emerge as all conquering, yet its market share in many places is slipping. Consumers all over the world hurried to stand in queue outside their nearby Apple store despite the somewhat underwhelming launch of Apple’s latest offering—the iPhone 4S.

Britain was the only European country in fact which has real 4S rush. As per reports from the Giga Om and Apple Blog, other parts of Europe such as France, Italy, Spain and Germany, the iPhone 4S has not closed the stable turn down of the market share of Apple’s smartphone.

Google’s Android platform is maintaining to outgrow Apple’s particularly in those markets which according to Dominic Sunnebo, the Director of Kantar Worldpanel ComTech Global Consumer Insights can be because of increased price sensitivity at European countries.

As per another explanation, the reason behind the decline of Apple’s market share in the European countries can be due to Siri, the most publicized latest feature of iPhone 4S which does not support majority of the European languages.

However, it does work in English, German and French but unfortunately this failed to support its sales. Giga Om further continued stating that Apple’s share rose to 36% in the United States in the recent quarter compared to 25% same time the previous year. Its share in Britain went up to 31% from 21% the previous year.

On the other hand, in France, Apple’s share slid to 20% from 29% whereas in Germany it went down from 27% in the previous to 22% this year.
