Sony’s PS Vita to Offer Gamers More Compelling Experience Over Smartphone Gaming Apps

Electronics giant Sony has launched the PS Vita, their latest handheld console in Japan with an aim for persuading gamers that in the era of smartphones, special devices can offer more compelling experience.

Diehard gamers on Saturday were spotted standing in queues to try their hands at the device but instantly complained of system freezes and touch screen problems. Sony instantly issued software update, apparently however having predicted the glitches.

2011 turned out to be a bad year for the company as firstly it was hit by Japanese tsunami followed by crippling hacking attack at their PlayStation Network. Sony has incurred an annual loss of over $1bn.

The latest PS Vita is likely to provide a boost in the coming year. The PS Vita will hit stores in Britain coming February and it will be available at a starting price tag of £229.99. The sales figures of the device from Japanese launch have not yet been released by Sony.

President of Japan’s Sony Computer Entertainment Hiroshi Kono stated that he is glad to see the crowd lining up early morning for PS Vita thereby adding that he can say that these people had waited anxiously for the launch of the device.

PS Vita will be available in two versions—3G connectivity and Wi-Fi. It will boast of a 5” touch screen display, advanced mobile CPU, dual analogue sticks, rear touch pad, and motion sensors to name a few.
