Retailers have indicated disappointing sales of one of Nokia’s latest offering Lumia 800, which as per analysts are likely to sell within 500,000 to 1m units prior to Christmas. Apple’s new iPhone 4S has defeated the sale of Nokia Lumia 800 with the former taking 1m pre-orders on the very first day.

The number of Nokia Lumia 800 is comparatively lower than the company’s estimates for N8, their previous flagship smartphone which hit stores last October and sold within 3.5 to 4m units on the first quarter as stated by research firm Inderes.

Earlier indications of Lumia of not being a comeback product for toppling Google’s top selling Android phones and Apple’s dominance discovered the share of Nokia closing down to 8.8% at £3.61at the Helsinki bourse.

Stephen Elop, chief executive of Nokia had ditched the Symbian operating system of N8 in February thereby betting Nokia’s future on taking up Microsoft’s mobile software. James Faucette, Pacific Crest analyst stated that the future of Nokia is not secure yet and believes that the shipment of the latest Windows Phone 7 from Nokia have been comparatively lower than what they had previously predicted.

He added that they had expected Nokia to ship around 2m units for the holidays in the 6 targeted markets but unfortunately believes the shipments this quarter will be lesser than 1m.
