Ever since the much awaited Apple iPhone 4S has been unveiled in India, Apple fans across India are furious with its high price range. They vented their annoyance highlighting on everything which is cheaper compared to the latest iPhone 4S also including quick trip to Dubai or Bangkok. The iPhone 4S is available via Aircel and Airtel at Rs 44,000 for 16GB, Rs 50,900 for 32GB and Rs 57,500 for 64GB. When contacted Apple, Aircel and Airtel the reason for such high price range, Aircel did not comment while a spokesperson of Airtel stated that with respect to price related queries, it will be appropriate to contact Apple. This is not the first time that that an Apple device is being sold at an outrageous price in India but this is being followed for a couple of years. Amidst blame game as well as covering all aspects, here are 5 reasons for iPhones carrying higher prices in India. An overview of the 5 reasons-

Brand- The first and foremost factor is the brand. Apple products as a brand globally enjoy high position. These products have huge fan following, which is a reason behind it being sold even at higher prices. Very few people in India actually own an iPhone despite the hurdles in price. In India an iPhone is associated with class and style and hence targets a particular group of audience and enjoys brand position which equals to the price attached to it by a network carrier.
