The war between Facebook and Google+ is on the rise. Facebook all of a sudden turned hyper and in the past 3 months offered users a series of new features like new photo viewer, video chats, improved comment and the recent revamped news feed and 6 months prior to that it rolled out new profile design and facial recognition of photos.
Facebook was shaken to its present hyperactive state by the end of June with the launch of Google+ which initially had an instant growth. But Facebook immediately responded to Google+ by joining hands with Skype for face to face video chat to challenge the latter’s multi-person hangouts.
Facebook rolled out several improvements but these changes had been planned much before the introduction of Google+. Like buttons, Facebook comments and share links on third party sites spread widely.
Facebook is launching and refurbishing its services at such pace, which appears almost desperate. These accelerated changes like the recent upgraded news feed has received a negative response.
Twitter is often flooded with comments like “hate Facebook” and “I love that Facebook keeps finding ways to make itself worse”. Though users have the option to switch over to Google+ but Facebook is a difficult service to quit.
Google+ despite its interesting features and cleanliness is suffering from a lack of a vital theme and several new users are unaware of what to make out of it.
Google+ henceforth needs to provide a compelling vision as to why users should be a part of it.
