Other World Computing (OWC) has launched Mercury Aura Pro Express 6G as a replacement of the existing Solid-State Drives (SSD) for the latest MacBook Air.

This new drive will offer 3 times faster performance, 4 times greater capacity and better reliability compared to the SSD and will be available in both capacities of 120 and 240GB.
The 120GB model will be available at a price tag of $345 while the 240GB model will be available at $600. A 480GB model is likely to be launched in the near future but its release date has not yet been disclosed.
All the models will come with a 3 year warranty. The company stated that this new drive is the only 6Gbps SSD which will work for both 11.1 as well as 13.3 inch models of 2011 MacBook Air.
The Mercury Aura Pro Express 6G comes with SandForce 2200 series controller along with Tier 1/Grade A NAND memory that pumps 454MB/sec write and 507MB/sec read speed which is almost two times faster than the stock SSD.
It will offer a greater data protection of up to 100X. It will also provide reliability and RAID kind of data protection without loss in the transfer speed on account of parity.
