CEO of Twitter, Dick Costolo stated that the micro-blogging site has hit 100 million active users monthly. These users include leaders, reporters, entertainers and athletes.

Twitter has turned into the world’s megaphone and has off late become the most common medium used by both organizations and individuals in order to stay connected to their followers as well as the public.
It presently has about 200 million registered users. Costolo further stated that 40% of the users simply log in to find out what is happening in the world.
They do not tweet themselves but just read the site. The Twitter blog stated that after launching Filipino, Hindi, Malay, Traditional and Simplified Chinese in the following weeks, the micro-blogging site will support about 17 languages.
Elaborating on the growth of the site, Twitter also stated that 40% of British MPs, 35 out of 46 police forces in Britain and 396 British Olympic all use Twitter.
Telegraph too uses Twitter. Lately the micro-blogging site crops up in nearly every news story. Twitter’s core mission is to connect people all over to what is most significant to them as stated by Costolo.
