Sony Ericsson unveils two new smartphones under Xperia brand

Sony Ericsson has unveiled two new smartphones—Ray and Active under its Xperia brand. The former is targeted towards stylish and classy users, who prefer sleek handsets while the latter is a rugged handset especially designed for consumers having a hectic lifestyle and is frequently on the move.

Both these handsets, which are dust and water resistant support mobile Bravia engine, reality display and Exmor for mobile, that offer users a better clarity to shoot videos and pictures in low light.

The Xperia Ray will hit stores on the second week of September, while the Xperia Active on the fourth week. Both these smartphones will be available within a price range of Rs 17,000-Rs 20,000.

Xperia Ray Smartphone

The Xperia Ray is a sleek and gorgeous handset, which comes including Android Gingerbread 2.3 operating system, 1 GHZ Snapdragon S2 processor, 9.4 mm thickness, 8.1 megapixel camera along with HD video functionality, 3.3” scratch resistant screen, 854 x 480 pixel resolution, front facing camera, and integrated touch keys. The list does not end here. It also includes other specifications such as 3G, Wi-Fi, DLNA, Bluetooth, 512MB RAM among others.

Xperia Active Smartphone

The Xperia Active, which comes with sporty look, is an apt handset for health conscious people. It is preloaded with sports apps that help one to keep track of their fitness level. It will also enable users to check their pulse and heart rate.

Its other features include 3” scratch resistant display, Android 2.3.4 operating system, 5 megapixel camera, 320 x 480 pixel resolution, barometer, Bluetooth, GPS and 512 MB RAM. It also includes replaceable back covers, arm case, wrist strap, compass, 1,200 mAh battery, iMapMyFitness app, detachable ear hooks, among others.
